Hehe! 32 restricted ufrs might be called "xmas murder" :-)
Havent seen yoou sign up falke!!!!!!!
BTW: Is Jamie still racing? Get on track guys and practice your arses off for this season! Especially for jamie I expect a place in high midfield this time!
... on the other hand I'm almost 30 and can't drift nor race properly ;-)
I think to be competitive you need to learn both. There is no better show than a good 4-wheel drift in a fast race, and seeing some guys do their show on drift servers is a pleasure as well.
To be honest nowadays there are many many people online who can't race AND drift, and I promise you'd own them even if you were 5 years of age.
My advice is: race and drift as you like, compete, improve and when you've collected some experience and grown some cojones you can maybe go in one direction.
I can give detailed information on how to repair broken paddles, but if you've still got warranty then the support is very friendly and helpful! Even when your wheel is older than 2 years the people there send you a new set of replacement paddles including material and a plan on how to open the wheel etc.
I'll be around for skinning and having a few races tonight! Yesterday was so f***ing exhausting I fell asleep while talking to the guys!!
It really IS great driving the almost-über-mini, even Matt and zero managed to drive almost the pace of the fast guys!
I promise this will be a very very close league!
Logos will be done by tomorrow night, we still have to discuss the placement of the numberplates on the sides. I'll update you with the link to the needed stuff then.
actually we have tried ky last night... and it was horribly boring! Also BL1R was nothing good. These cars are only a bit faster than the uf1, but they offer so much grip, that you can do big wide courses halfway without lifting at all. we have tried racing the same setups for everyone, but still the field stretched after the first laps.
Our aim is to keep it close but relatively harmless, and that can't be done with the baby-Rs on long tracks.
Oh another thing: If you guys feel bored, why not join a league? I don't want to force to anything special, but I think it would be a great waste of time seeing the "old" forum sluts actually race against each other! Might be quality!!!
Again, this is not an ad of any league!
LFS-wise everything is in perfect order. Maybe we ARE a spoilt bunch of kids, since the game is getting better and better and we keep moaning :-)
RL is quite a pita, I'm beginning to study, move in with my girlfriend, quit the easy life of a weekend relationship and have to do homework once more... But how should I say it... every challenge lets us grow.
What about apple then? If I buy an ipod I have to use itunes, until some freak tells me how to run everything fine and even easier with winamp. The iphone is locked to a 1-provider contract and has to be unlocked to even work with let's say vodafone. Telecom, e-on, shell and many others try to ruin competitors with illegal price agreements, buying other big companies and the like.
Yes, I use microsoft only because I play games, and my installation is completely legal but haxx0red to the max. If they started bulloxing companies for being monopolists though, they'd have to get money from ALL of them.
RGT pro works fine here. After 1 1/2 years of hard usage the shifter paddle almost broke, but that Problem is easy and fast to fix. Apart from that it's a good wheel. I've got it for more than 2 1/2 years now.
No ball bearings getting loose
No Pedal spiking
No problems with setting the thing up (no profiler or other sh**needed)
enough buttons on the wheel
much heavier that dfp
good grip
3 pedals in the new version (I've got the old one still)
So if you don't behave like a blacksmith behind the wheel it should be great. At least for me it is :-)
Just be sure, whoever used the hack will be banned from all upcoming zwr events and servers, even if he only "tried" it once.
There is no place for cheaters here, they are ruining the game for everyone else.
Not meaning this in a bad way, so don't see this post as bananathing.
If I want to have a car, I'll have to pay for it. If I am in a sports club and need some equipment, then I'll have to pay for it. If I get on the bus, I have to pay and if I want to host a server for whatever reason, then It is going to cost a little money.
If your team mates don't want to donate then it is perfectly okay with them, but you shouldn't try and get everything for free.
I could buy a twingo right away now, but I could also start to cry and scream around that I want a Porsche. Noone is going to pay for my 911, I'd have to look around how to get it a bit cheaper, and if I can't afford one now, I'd have to save money and take a cheap offer when I am sure about it.
Why do you need the server 24/7, are you going to host a league or something? you can usually find over 600 mostly empty servers online, and if you want to drive any very special combos try to get in contact with the server owners, maybe they'll change something for you.
Very well said Becky,
it's true, lfs would be TEH ÜBER driving simulator if all of the features mentioned above would be implemented. I don't think that it is possible to program all that, and it should not be the hardest part, remember the awesome physics we have right now! On the other hand I think it MUST be difficult to implement that stuff
-into the existing gamecode
-until tomorrow night at 22:45 uktime
-...and let it run fluently on todays/yesterdays computers.
Hehe, imagine the chat:
1:WTF 1:#2 you made me spin 2:what? 1:you slipped into the gravel 37 laps ago, i slipped because of your debris!
I'd propose only 2 races with 15-20 laps, first 8 grid rev. I like the little longer races more, less confusion, less pickup character, consistent driving would be promoted more, one would have the chance to recover from a crash and take back a few places before the race is over. Also on a 40s to 1 min track, 8 laps might feel like nothing ;-)
Thanks to the nice people at dsrc we've managed to get a decent server for a testing session tonight.
server: dsrc battlegrounds #3
Track: SO2
cars: detuned UFRs (45% intake restriction make nice 80hp) only!!
password: ufrslow
time: 20:30 UK time (server is already open for testing)
We will start with a short practice session, then make a 10-15min qualifying. After that we'll do one long race and a short one. Times depend on how many people will show up.
Please join and obey the rules, be fair and try not to wreck anyone.
Our purpose is to find out how a full field of detuned UFRs feels, how cars and drivers behave and if there are any more problems left.
Especially the intake restriction might be subject to change this evening.
if you should need additional info feel free to pm me at any time (before the race) or anwer this post.
70-80hp is just fine with me once a week or once every two will suit quite well (fortnights favoured)
I'd say 1x10mins quali and 1x20mins race per track would be a medium way. Don't want to train for two different tracks a week, so my favourite would be just 1 longer race. This wouldn't be that attractive anymore for others though. no special points given, the fast ones WILL stay fast, see the awesome performance of the ladies of mercury last season!! extra weight might be cool, we should try that maybe this evening. I'd say okay 15-10-5 (or even less), with a max of 30kgs per car, weight given by round.
teams are also nicer imo, but this time there are no changes allowed! Ah well, we'll run in 1 div, so who cares if there's a swap!?
Remember the shitload of work we've had with last season's training, points, calculations and several errors (thanks paulie and falke for having kept an eye on it!!), this time I won't be around that often so maybe we could keep it a little simpler ;-)
Welcome to the bunch Tony!
